Amos Pieper and SV Werder Bremen have received some disappointing news. The 26-year-old defender will require an operation after injuring his ankle in the game against Eintracht Frankfurt, as confirmed by a series of tests conducted by a medical expert in consultation with team doctor Dr. Georg Tsironis. The surgery is set to take place in Bremen at the start of next week.

“Amos sustained an injury in a tackle during the game against Frankfurt, which caused the same problems that were operated on last summer to reoccur. We’re gutted for him, because he recovered from his broken ankle quicker than expected, and now has to undergo another operation. We’re giving Amos all the support he needs, and are hoping that he’ll be back in action for the start of preseason in the summer. Amos’ absence will be a real blow to us as a team considering the current availability within the squad,” explained head of professional football Clemens Fritz.
